I have always been interested in health and wellness. My first degree was in community health, but it was not specific enough for me at the time to pursue a career out of. My grandfather got sick shortly after I graduated, and had hospice at his home. The nurses were genuine and compassionate. I instantly made a connection to perfect strangers that had our best interest in their heart. It motivated me to pursue nursing because of the love they gave my grandfather and family.
What Types of Exercise Reduce Dementia Risk?
Several large studies have confirmed that vigorous exercise, walking and even doing household chores can greatly benefit the brain. Vigorous exercise seems to be best, but even non-traditional exercise, such as doing household chores, can offer a significant benefit. And, surprisingly, it’s just as effective at reducing the risk in those with a family history of dementia.
The Case for Care Management in Home Care
When people reach out for Home Care, they often have very specific needs. While there could be underlying health conditions that need support, there is also an individual’s unique way of life and daily routine that need to be considered. Unfortunately, traditional Home Care is not equipped for this level of detail.
